Who would you bring back from the dead?

Bob Ross (1942-1995).

You kept us company on those lonely days we’d stay home sick from school. Sure his paintings all looked the same, but he did them right before our eyes in 30 minutes or less. Whether he was painting “happy little trees” or performing a “cabin-ectomy”, he kept his patient elegance. Bob Ross was a true gentleman and a cool cat.

Bob Ross Quotes:

  • “The trees are oh so soft, oh so soft I freakin’ love it.”
  • “Tender as a mother’s love…And with my mother, that was certainly true.”
  • “We want happy paintings. Happy paintings. If you want sad things, watch the news.”

Christopher Hewett a.k.a. Lynn Belvedere (1922-2001).

“According to our new arrival, life is more than mere survival.” Oh you taught us well, Mr. Belvedere with your life lessons and dry English wit. Without you the Owenses would have been just another blue collar family. You taught them manners, morals, and to care about streaks on the china. Most importantly you put Wesley in his place. (Wesley always creeped me out and reminded me of Billy Mahoney from Flatliners.)

Mr. Belvedere Quotes:

  • “Oh Wesley.”
  • “Mrs. Robinson, you’re trying to seduce me. Aren’t you?”
  • “To tear the flesh, to wear the flesh. To be born into new worlds where his flesh becomes my key.”

  1. Man… poor Mr. Belvedere. I mean, I would rather see Bob Ross but I didn’t want Mr. Belvedere to get no votes!

  2. This is a no brainer! Bob Ross hands down. Are you kidding me…who doesn’t want happy little trees? And in this economy I simply can’t afford a butler :)

  3. I would normally vote for Bob Ross hands down but my father-in-law’s name is Bob Ross and frankly, there’s just room in my life for one Bob Ross. So welcome back Mr. Belvedere.

  4. Oh, now I remember Bob Ross. (You asked me last night). And although I watched Mr. Belvedere more than Bob Ross I had to vote for Bob merely for the quotes you put up. Loved it!
    Good Post.

  5. Those artist don’t contribute much to society. I picked the guy that’s going to clean up after me.

  6. I loved Mr. Belvedere….bring him back..at least the re-runs.

  7. This actually was my hardest vote yet. Ultimately though, we always need more old white guys with fros smiling. Plus, if you read Bob Ross’ bio, he was so freakin cool.

  8. Mr B. was sarcastic, rude and ungrateful. What the introductory theme song didn’t mention is that he was homeless before he was taken in by the Owenses. You’d think he would show a little respect to his American hosts. His character represents all things that are wrong with England.

  9. Yes, Bob only because of the quotes.

  10. Bob Ross hands down. My favorite quote: “There are no mistakes, just happy little accidents.”

  11. Bob use to be a sound engineer for our movie shoots. He was a good guy. Unfortunately he died of aids. Go figure!

  12. Although I heart the days of falling asleep to Bob Ross on Sunday afternoons, Mr. Belvedere is the brunt of many jokes at the Cain house. I want him to write in his journal at my house.

  13. [...] Who would you bring back from the dead? Bob Ross or Mr. Belvedere? Did you know that “belvedere” means “beautiful view” in Italian? Too bad he wasn’t beautiful enough to capture your votes. 75% would bring back Bob Ross. I’m sure he’s smiling down on you from his happy little place in heaven. Maybe he’s up there still painting “belvederes”. Email this | Subscribe | Permalink | Tags: march, roundup [...]
