Who would you rather have as your best friend?

Elliott. Pete’s dragon. A lovable pink-haired beast with a grimacic jovial demeanor. Sometimes I wish he were Scott’s dragon. We’d roast apples and sing “Candle in the Wind” together. Elliott can make himself invisible. Something I’ve been looking for in a best friend for years.

Falkor has a very different kind of charm. Such a noble creature. Part dog, mostly dragon. Nonjudgemental. Furry AND scaly. What he lacks in magical skills he makes up for in luck. He can fly without wings. Don’t you have any bullies you’d want to turn the tables on?

The main difference is that Elliott saved Pete from a life of slavery with the Gogan’s, and Falkor saved Bastian from a life of being a pussy.

Trivia for Pete’s Dragon:

  • Jeff Conaway, who played Willie, can now be seen on Dr. Drew’s Celebrity Rehab as a strung out d-bag.
  • Puff (the magic dragon) auditioned for the role of Elliott, but filmmakers thought he was too effeminate. Lately he’s been seen hanging around with Jeff Conaway.

Trivia for The NeverEnding Story:

  • You can ride on Falcor’s back on location at the Bavaria Filmplatz in Munich, Germany.
  • The guy with the racing snail is played by Deep Roy, who you may recognize as the Oompa Loompas in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He was also Droopy McCool in Return of the Jedi and the Tin Man in Return to Oz. Crazy times.

  1. I am predicting a shut out on this one.

  2. You may be right, Brad. Maybe I should have put him up against Kimmie Gibbler.

  3. no this was a hard one for me. i wanted elliot too, but in the end never ending story was more a part of my childhood withmy sisters, chris and brynn so i had to go with falkor.

  4. Falkor is way more comfortable to sleep on. Pete doesn’t really fly like Falkor either. This will be a blow out for sure.

  5. Who didn’t want Falkor as their friend?? I agree with Aimee, way more comfortable to sleep on :) THis is a kick-ass blog by the way!!!

  6. I did forget to mention that Pete’s Dragon does have one of my fave childhood songs “Candle on the Water”….yes i used to sing it along with my fisher price microphone…

  7. I have to go with elliott, because the never ending story freaked me out when I was little.

  8. I meant Elliot can’t fly as cool as Falkor can fly.

  9. Falkor wins because he is snugglier. Elliot is too tough to understand. But, maybe if he were my dragon, I could understand him.

  10. Falkour, or, barring him, maybe one of the Wild Things (which, BTW, looks like an awesome movie)

  11. This was a tough one. I went with Elliot because of all the almost-talking noises he made. You could kind of tell what he was saying but not really. It kept things interesting.

  12. Falkor wins HANDS DOWN!!! Good one Scott!!! :)

  13. Tough call as both are graduated from Rising Star Communications!

  14. I absolutely have to have both! Can’ t a girl have more than just one best friend? After all , different friends fulfill different needs. And what if one dies, or something, then what?

  15. The never ending story scared me when I was young and it scares me today. I do t know what Falcor is and I don’t want to find out. That was a very creepy show. Elliot wins on the “less creepy factor”.

  16. First, that thing in Germany, is not Falkor. Doesn’t look a thing like him. :P

Two, am I the only one who always thought of him as fluffy all over? My favorite movie as a kid, and I just today realized that he’s actually mostly scales. :P
